Following extensive renovation Southwold Pier is now one of the finest examples of a Pier to be found in the British isles, it attracts thousands of visitors making it one of Southwold's greatest attractions and has just been awarded the prestigious title of 'Best Tourism Experience 2008' in the 6 counties that comprise the East of England.
Piers are always subject to bombardment of the tremendous power of the sea, but at their best they represent one of the finest aspects of our national heritage. This Pier has the perfect mix of happy memories of holidays past, of hot summer days relaxing on the beach and of great fun for all generations of the family.
From traditional fish and chips in the Promenade Café to mouthwatering menus in the Boardwalk Restaurant and the Clockhouse Brasserie our food is freshly prepared. We have four shops: The Treasure Chest, full of gifts and keepsakes, Seaweed & Salt, our life-style store has a stunning collection of homeware and ceramics, our new children's shop 'Mermaids & Pirates', full to the brim with traditional toys and games and absolutely brilliant if you're stuck for birthday or Christmas gifts and our Beach Shop which provides everything you need for a great day out on the beach.
We also boast two arcades: The 'Under the Pier Show', a collection of mad, handbuilt inventions that will make you roar with laughter and a traditional Amusement Arcade of family, interactive fun, the only arcade in the country with no gambling machines.
