About Us

The sun warming your face, the revitalising fresh sea air and the tide ebbing and flowing beneath your feet. Welcome to Southwold Pier.

Following extensive renovation Southwold Pier is now one of the finest examples of a Pier to be found in the British isles, privately owned, it attracts thousands of visitors making it one of Suffolk's greatest attractions and was awarded the prestigious title of 'Best Tourism Experience' in the 6 counties that comprise the East of England.

Piers are always subject to bombardment of the tremendous power of the sea, but at their best they represent one of the finest aspects of our national heritage. This Pier has the perfect mix of happy memories of holidays past, of hot summer days relaxing on the beach and of great fun for all generations of the family.

From traditional fish and chips in the Promenade Café to mouth watering menus in The Boardwalk Restaurant and The Clockhouse our food is freshly prepared using many local products. We have four shops: Seaweed & Salt, our life-style store with a stunning collection of homeware, textiles and ceramics; The Curlew, newly refurbished with a lovely range of hand carved wooden birds, Madeleine Floyd’s bird designs & the charming ‘Go Crabbing’ range of T-shirts & hoodies; The Treasure Chest, brimming with charming Southwold keepsakes, souvenirs, magnets and cards, oodles of pocket money ideas and a delicious range of jams, chutneys, fudges and sweeties; Buckets & Spades, everything you need for a great day playing at the seaside.

The Plaques along the rails have helped with the maintenance of the Pier and continue to give delight and interest to those who slowly walk the 623 feet reading as they go! These plaques are available for purchase by calling the Pier telephone number.

We also boast two arcades: The 'Under the Pier Show', a collection of mad, hand built inventions that will make you roar with laughter and a traditional Amusement Arcade of family, interactive fun,one of the only arcades in the country with no gambling machines.
