After a year off from the event, Suffolk once again welcomes the world’s best riders, this time hosting the Grand Depart on Wednesday 13th June. The race starts in Framlingham, winding its way around the west of the county before sprinting eastwards to the chequered flag, Southwold’s North Parade acting as the Champs-Elysees of Suffolk.
Thanks to the county’s (relatively) gentle topography, this stage will be a fast one, so expect to see plenty of speed on the final mile!
Amongst the riders tackling the 2018 course will be numerous household names, as well as some of the global giants of the sport. British sisters Hannah and Alice Barnes will be riding for Canyon//SRAM, while superstar Marianne Vos is expected to be contesting at the head of the field.
Parking will be hard to find on the day of the event, so why not arrive early and secure your space, then enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the Beach Café followed by a peruse around Seaweed & Salt? You can then find a prime spot on the promenade to watch the riders as they flash past to the finish line, before returning to the Pier and taking a late lunch at the Boardwalk Restaurant.
